A landing page is a webpage designed specifically for the benefit of visitors after they have clicked on a web search result or clicked on a web ad. Many webmasters use their homepage as their landing page. There may be some homepages that serve well as a landing page but most don't. That is because most affiliate marketers set up their homepage with more than one product or program on offer.
There is likely to be links to all of your pages. There may be links to many programs including Adsense. There may also be links to other sites providing great information for your visitors.
This is all good for your homepage and if it is done tastefully, it gives you credibility in the eyes of the visitor. Although it gives you credibility, it is also distracting for the visitor if your aim is to obtain a sale from them. They may be impressed by your cool site and then click off to another site without buying anything or subscribing to your list. You have lost contact with that customer for ever in most cases.
In today's internet environment a lot of affiliate marketers are including the following features in their landing page.
1. Firstly, the theme and offer is more specialized to a product, line of products or affiliate program.
2. This is then reflected in the ad you have placed or the keywords you have used to optimise the page for the benefit of the search engines.
3. Most affiliate marketers are offering a free gift(s) on their landing page. A lot of internet consumers are now expecting this. In return your landing page can have a form requesting their first name and email address.
If your customer gives their details and you have your autoresponder set up then you have the means to stay in contact with them using a regular newsletter. Always comply with the anti-spam laws and it is now standard practice to have a double opt-in system with your autoresponder. You can include other offers in your newsletters or emails on a regular basis. This is when you can promote your homepage or other landing pages for other products.

http://www.DavesAffiliateMarketing.comBig apologies to affiliate marketers out there but the Olympic swimming is the one thing that stops my wife and I every four years. In the fine Australian tradition of Olympic swimming, our swimmers are doing a great job. This time it's the women.
Stephanie Rice, Libby Trickett, Leisel Jones have all won individual gold. All three will have chances to win more as well as Claudia Shipper. There's also the relays to come. Grant Hackett will have his chance in the 1500 metres and Eammon Sullivan the 100 Metres to fly the flag for the guys.
Congratulations to all other winning nations, including the USA who are ahead in the swimming medal tally I think.
It's a problem having a full time job and building an
Affiliate Marketing Business while the Olympics are on. Any business requires you to make some sacrifices in your personnal life and affiliate marketing is no exception. I have reduced my T.V. consumption enormously over the last two years, which is good for me. I have reduced my exercise, which is bad for me.
There are times though when you have to have a break of some kind, even if it is dashing to the T.V. set to catch the next swimming final. It is only once every four years and next week I will be watching a lot less because the swimming will be over.
Once you make up your mind to give yourself a treat, it is important not to lapse back into your old habits. On this occasion for me it would to watch a lot of the athletics next week - which I am less interested in - then I would be drawn into watching some of the other sports which I would never find interesting outside of the Olympics.
The marshall arts sports seem particularly silly to me. The sport of Judo seems to consist of two people grappling at each others tunic and trying to trip each other. One of the other marshall arts sports I saw at the last Olympics consisted of two people kicking each others shins. This is how the Olympics can turn you into a couch potatoe.
My affiliate marketing must take priority so from next week it will be my
Affiliate Programs Gold!..... What's this? T.V. hasn't even left the blocks yet!

I might add at this point that I really was a nice credit officer. I never worked in the finance sector chasing personal debts from household consumers. I only chased commercial debt from companies who should be able to afford to pay, ( but usually pretended they had no money.) Perhaps I was too nice:) and that's why I was retrenched?
I then took up part time cleaning work at a shopping complex. It was mostly afternoon, evening work from 3.30 pm to 10.00pm. This suited me as I am a night owl and not at my best in the mornings. I could get out of bed when I wanted and start tapping away at my computer.
The pressing need of paying bills forced me to take a full time cleaning job this week.
AAARRRGGGHHH!!! The hours!!! I now have to get out of bed at 3.30AM! Yes I write AM...I have to do this five days a WEEK!!! I now get home at about 2.00pm aching all over, (especially my aging back.)
I decided to take this job so I could work on my affiliate marketing in the afternoon. I spent too many years working full time office hours, being stuck in peak hour traffic to and from work, and feeling exhausted by the time I got home.
Affiliate Marketing is the best business and it is worth these sacrifices despite protests from my body clock.
